RETURNING to Washington, DC after his 2023 Summer Tour in Europe ~ Saturday December 16th, 2023, KENNY “DOPE” GONAZELEZ is live at FLASH, 645 Florida Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. Flash is an indoor night club with three levels including a rooftop. 21 & older with ID to enter. Attire is Casual. Come to dance. Street & lot parking nearby. Kenny “DOPE” Gonzalez is one of the most prolific artists of the modern music age. The four time Grammy nominated musical genius has been entertaining and astounding the masses alike with his fusions of house, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, funk & soul, reggae, alternative pop and broken beats for 20 years. Known as a living encyclopedia of beats and tagged with the nickname “DEBO” by his closest friends, Kenny is a purveyor of sonic masterpieces.
Kenny Dope’s breakthrough as a solo artist came in 1995. One night disheartened by the music that was being released throughout the business, Kenny went home and pulled out a series of classic records. After 3 days Kenny had produced an entire album, “The Bucketheads” what he didn’t know was that this was going to be a huge turning point for him. With a plan to produce a record that was raw and fun, one track stood out, “THE BOMB (these sounds fall into my mind)”. With its driving drums, screeching sound effects and extended sample from Chicago’s “Street Player”, the song was an instant sensation. Gonzalez had gatecrashed the European pop charts with his first major hit.
While production and touring accounted for most of his time, Kenny also founded Kay-Dee Records in 2003. The label came about when Scottish funk DJ legend Keb Darge came to Kenny with a challenge. After Keb heard MAW’s “The Nervous Track” he promised Kenny that he would come up with a funk version of the track. A short while later he came back to Kenny with “Nervous” by The New Mastersounds. Kay-Dee Records was born and the track became the first pressing on the label in 2003.
With his long-established reputation as a DJ extraordinaire Kenny consistently shows his distinctive ability for programming superior beats while blending a myriad of music styles to deliver the ultimate MIX. Kenny showcases a melting pot of house, jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop and others while keeping the show colorful, energetic and soulful.
While production and touring account for most of his time, the last 2 decades Kenny Dope has had his hands full releasing literally thousands of tracks, remixing hundreds of singles, and globetrotting to DJ all over the world. Gonzalez continues to build his reputation …Whether it’s sitting behind the control board playing to his followers, or searching for the next great re-release classic, the beat master will continue to shine as “THE” Master at Work.

Event Details
KEM (born Kim Owens), is a Nashville-born, Detroit-based singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, overcame homelessness and addiction to become one of the most popular adult contemporary R&B artists of the 2000s and early 2010s. Known for his warm, mellow, and positive sound, the Grammy-nominated artist carried on the tradition of the quiet storm radio format — exemplified by the likes of Smokey Robinson, the Isley Brothers, and Anita Baker — with a steady supply of romantic and introspective ballads.
Kem funded the recording of his self-released debut, Kemistry, by working as a waiter and as a singer in a wedding band. After he sold 10,000 copies, the disc was picked up by Motown for nationwide release in February 2003. The album eventually reached the Top 20 of the Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums chart. Its follow-up, Album II, came out in May 2005. Like its predecessor, it reached gold status; it sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S. For a few years, Kem was less active as a recording artist, though he did appear on the fourth volume in Guru‘s Jazzmatazz series.
Kem‘s third album for Motown, titled Intimacy, was issued in August 2010, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and went gold as well; the single “Why Would You Say” was nominated for Grammy awards in the categories of Best R&B Male Performance and Best R&B Song. A holiday album, What Christmas Means, came in 2012. The following year, Ronald Isley‘s This Song Is for You was released, highlighted by “My Favorite Thing,” a song Kem wrote and produced. Promise to Love, his fourth proper album of reliably smooth, gently uplifting material, arrived in August 2014.

Event Details
Thursday Feb 8th – Thursday Feb 15th, 2024
BRAZIL is the largest Latin country in the Americas with cultural influences of this country are a blend of Native American, African, European and Portuguese customs. As an added fact, it claims the most recognized and uninhibited of all Carnival celebrations on the globe.
For the people of Brazil, Carnival is an enormous festival of pride, culture and party energy before Lent each year. While Salvador da Bahia claims the largest celebration, Rio de Janeiro’s, massive Street Parties (called Blocos), lavish Masquerade Balls and prestigious Samba school competition make it the epic televised event watched around the world! The signature parade competition in Rio’s Sambadrome Stadium go on through the entire week, where the top samba troops contend fiercely for the coveted championship crown. Showcased are large, hand-crafted, visually impressive parade floats from each Samba school, led by a beautiful “Samba Queen”. The Samba Queen is accompanied by thousands (yes, thousands) of male & female singers, drummers and dancers in dazzling costumes performing choreographed routines to the Samba beat. It is such an overwhelming, exuberant display of artistry & showmanship – that if you look closely, you’ll may even spot several Samba dancers with absolutely no costume at all! (WHOA)
We can say this event never disappoints! After a covid cancellation & delay the past two years, we set our sites for the proper return next February. Join the Funky People for the the biggest party on the planet at Carnavale 2024!

END OF YEAR DC SHOW: Musiq Soulchild is a hip-hop soul artist that was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He built a reputation for being musically gifted, beat boxing for MC’s, free styling on the open mic circuit or just performing acappella for strangers on the streets.
Deeply inspired by the R&B/Soul sound of the 70’s he uses the name “Soulchild” as a way to show respect and admiration to his biggest musical influences such as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and many others. In April 2016 he released his 7th studio album entitled “Life On Earth” leading with the new hit single “I Do”. The album peaked at #2 on Billboard R&B album charts and # 3 on the Top Hip-Hop R&B album charts. He has received awards from Billboard, BET, ASCAP, BMI, and Soul Train.
