2023 Brazil Carnival Vacation

ANYONE! Our adult travel group and website is based in the DC metro area, but the Funky People Online membership of professionals, artists and outgoing personalities (ages 25-70) is spread across the US and world. We have produced entertainment events in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, DC for the past twenty years. You are welcome to attend this vacation no matter where you live, just realize that trip rates will differ slightly depending on your home city and times of travel. If you desire, you can arrange a custom package to fit your budget. Our main travel group will depart/arrive the Eastern US using New York's JFK International Airport or Miami International Airport and you can have our planners coordinate air connections via your city. Our package rates do not cover domestic US flight connections to the departure cities of NYC and Miami from your city. ABSOLUTELY NOT, Funky People Online does not plan or produce events exclusively for men or any other group. We are a professional, social and travel group network that produces diverse entertainment activities for people of varying backgrounds and a particular mindset. If you're "Funky and progressive in your interests and activities" and like to socialize with similar dynamic personalities from different locales, then you are very welcome to join us. You can choose to have your own room or share with one to two other people. There are no quad rooms. Have our travel agent secure a package for you with a minimum deposit. The "Land Only" package includes: airport ground transfers, hotel accommodations, breakfast everyday, a Welcome to Reception & Carnival Orientation, exclusive private transportation + a half-day sightseeing tour of the Christ Statue. The "Land & Air" packages include the land items plus the international round trip airfare from the US. Depending on your preference, you can add more day tours and/or VIP Carnival Party events. Contact our agents for pricing of extra activities. Yes, If you reside in the mid-west, western or southern part of the US and would like to attend this trip, we can arrange for departure out of Miami International Airport or elsewhere as an option. Note that your package costs and minimum deposit payment terms will differ from our NYC departure packages. Your flight times and dates of travel may also differ. You should plan to secure any domestic flight connections to the international hub cities from your area. Contact our travel planners well in advance with your request for pricing and options. Plan early - Late or last minute booking will be extra costly for this destination.

The Funky People travel group coordinates vacation travel to worldly locations that appeal to our interest in rich history, and the Afro-Latin-Carribean culture. Brazil is very significant in it's connection to the African-American and Latin culture and religion. It is a recommended experience for anyone of color or of African and Latino descent. Don't go by what you've heard - experience the beauty of this country yourself! Rio de Janeiro has plenty of coastal beaches, restaurants, upscale boutiques, malls and nite life to offer for couples, friends, single women, single men, and groups of any size. As with most developing countries, it is no more or no less safe for foreign travelers than similar destinations in the Caribbean and Central America. For those who have never been to Brazil, it is our personal recommendation that your first experience occur during Carnival - your spirit will forever be changed! There are always added benefits of traveling with a group besides the obvious security in numbers. Group package pricing buffers the individual or pair of travelers from hidden add-on costs associated with overseas travel. Are you kidding? The activity highlight for this trip will be Carnival! You'll be smack in the middle of the most electric, energetic annual cultural event on the planet! Travel group activities are scheduled with enough time in the day to explore the allure of Brazil as much as you want on your own. The land package is pretty balanced, but depending your preferences, you can tailor your Carnival experience by adding more activities. The nights can be spent reveling with the locals, while the days leave you with about 12-15 hours of free time (even more if you choose not to sleep, lol) to do as you choose. A typical sightseeing day tour lasts only a half day. (see itinerary tab) One big misconception about our trip schedule is that it is geared to always keep the travel group together as a whole. That could not be further from the truth. You can do as much OR as little as you wish - there will be lots of cultural entertainment to explore on during Carnival! For your reference in early February 2023, our trip planners will provide all attendees with a final schedule of our Carnival activity plans, hotel neighborhood maps, Brazil Travel Tips & Things to Know, a 2023 Carnival Event Schedule, recommended places to dine, and a list of some really cool things to do & see. However, if you desire to just relax on the beach with a book, shop 'til you drop, or just do nothing at all - we won't be offended! YES, a valid passport is the only document US citizens need to enter Brazil. Your current passport must be valid until at least six months beyond our dates of travel to Brazil. This means that if your US passport expires anytime before Sept 1, 2022, it must be renewed in order to travel with our group to Carnival in February 2023. Funky People Online, it's agents and vendors will not be responsible for YOU acquiring this crucial document before our trip - NO EXCEPTIONS. Check your passport expiration date now! NO, as of June 2019, American citizens do not need a Tourist VISA to visit Brazil.

NOT LIKELY. Access to find our group even at public venues while in Brazil will be difficult as only FP travelers will know our exact group schedule when they arrive. Admittance on the scheduled day tours, VIP party venues, and other activities in Rio will be exclusive to paid FP travelers. Our priority will be to focus on the travel comfort of our vacation group members. To guarantee Funky People group inclusion, make travel arrangements via our agent, TGW Travel Tours. If you are not familiar with this country we strongly advise you to travel with an experienced group like ours. Your trip will be far more enjoyable, since we've already done this several times before!

Our vacation begins on the ground in Brazil on Friday morning (2/17) and ends Ash Wednesday afternoon (2/22). That is a total of 6 days & 5 nights. In order to arrive in Rio for our hotel check-in on the morning of Friday February 17th, our overnight flight plans are set for a Thursday evening departure (2/16) from the USA. Total travel time with connections between most US cities and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is generally 10-14 hours each way. Thus, our final day check out is Wednesday afternoon February 22nd. Our return flight departs Rio that evening and we actually land back stateside on Thursday morning (2/23).

Reservations are made on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. You can still join us until spaces are filled or up until the final booking/payment deadline (January, 2023). Our package prices will only be guaranteed upon receiving the current minimum trip deposit. Prices are subject to change at anytime. Be advised that seating prices and availability will change dramatically during the last months of 2022 and January of 2023.The later you wait, the more you should expect to pay. It is wise to plan far ahead for a trip like this - start talking now to someone who is serious about attending. We can assist you with a monthly payment schedule, if preferred. Simply contact us with your travel intentions (occupancy, package option, etc). Our agents will determine your total cost and then advise you of the installment timeline. Longer advanced planning allows you to make smaller multiple payments over time based on the time remaining before the final payment deadline. As of the Summer of 2021, many countries and travel destinations are opening up. Travel insurance, including trip cancellation insurance for COVID-19 is extremely important to consider when planning any international travel since the onset of the pandemic. Although life and activities are improving, policy changes can occur at any time that may effect your trip. We recommend that you purchase this insurance for peace of mind, in the event travel times and plans for Carnival are changed or cancelled. NOTE: Travel insurance will vary by country/state and is not included in the package pricing for this trip. Also the refund policy is clear, any cancellations will be credited towards the 2023 Carnival trips.
